The 2018-2019 Bright Water Waldorf School Community Fund

Please support the 2018-2019 Bright Water Waldorf School Community Fund

This Is Our School…

This year, Bright Water Waldorf School celebrates its twentieth anniversary of bringing Waldorf education to Seattle families. Join us in celebrating the people and stories that have made us who we are today. Bright Water is committed to inspiring healthy social and academic lives for its students, as well as a culture of community engagement, all of which are fundamental in supporting the school’s mission.

Bright Water Waldorf School is an independent Waldorf school and a 501(c)3 non-profit. As with most nonprofit and independent schools, Bright Water depends on the philanthropic support of our community.

Under the strategic direction of the Board of Trustees and the Advancement Committee, fundraising provides our school with the resources and flexibility to make strategic investments in its programs, its people and its campus. It also enables our school to be a more inclusive community, setting aside a substantial portion of the budget for tuition assistance and helping to keep tuition increases to a minimum. All of this goes toward ensuring the health and sustainability of our school for years to come.

The 2018-2019 Bright Water Waldorf School Community Fund

The BWWS Community Fund is a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts and supports the day-to-day operations of the school – everything from professional development for our teachers and staff to classroom materials and campus improvements. It also supports the one in three families in our community who rely on financial assistance to attend our school.

Our goal is 100% participation from every family, faculty and staff member, and trustee!

Every gift — no matter the size — makes a difference.

100% participation sends the message to our community that we believe in the school’s mission and its impact on students and families.

The Bright Water Waldorf School Community Fund kicks off on November 17, 2018, with a community celebration at the Shafer Baillie Mansion.

Ways to Give

Annual gifts from families, friends of Bright Water Waldorf School, trustees, faculty, staff, and alumni help make up the difference between tuition income and the cost of the Bright Water Waldorf School experience. These unrestricted contributions give our school the ability to use the funds where they are needed the most, be it for tuition assistance, professional development, curriculum supplies, or campus improvements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not increase tuition to cover the school’s cost so we don’t have to fundraise?

Tuition income covers 80-90% of our school’s expenses. The Bright Water Waldorf School Community Fund makes a truly special and rich Waldorf experience possible. As part of our school community’s commitment to inclusiveness and diversity, fundraising is required to maintain tuition that is affordable and accessible.

I can’t make a large gift. Should I give anyway?

YES! Our goal is 100% participation from every family, faculty/staff member and trustee! Every gift – no matter the size – makes a difference.

Can I pledge now and pay later?

YES! Gifts can be paid over time or scheduled for a later date. Paying your pledge over time is a way to stretch your donation – $25 a month over 10 months is $250; $100 pledged over 10 months is $1000, $500 a month over 10 months is $5000. Pledge payments are due by the end of our fiscal year, July 31, 2018.

Is my donation eligible for employer/corporate matching?

Corporate matching is a great way to give and can easily double, sometimes triple, your contribution. Check with the Human Resources office at your place of work. BWWS is a 501(C)3 non-profit and is eligible for matching gifts.
