Volunteering through Participation
Bright Water Waldorf School operates with a dynamic, self-organized governance system. This ensures every member of the Bright Water community has a voice in shaping our future. Your participation matters. Together, we attune to the organization's needs and respond accordingly.
This governance model welcomes volunteer leadership and participation at every level. We seek parent volunteers who have interest/expertise in the following areas:
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Circle
Cultivates and develops an authentic posture of inclusion throughout our school community; ensures that a DEI lens and approach is engaged through calendar and academic planning, policy, procedure, and pedagogy, etc.
Governance Circle
Oversees the implementation and practice of Sociocracy; support circles in how to organize and achieve aims
Finance Circle
Establishes the school budget; secures grants; sets tuition rates according to school values
Board Circle
Oversees the overall vitality of our school and ensures its future flourishing; high level planning and strategy to meet long term goals of sustainability
Advancement Circle
Internal and external marketing and communications; retention and growth through enrollment, and fundraising efforts such as the annual Community Fund
Family Circle
Cultivates spaces where families can foster connections through play, crafting, and gatherings; supports other community members when experiencing times of need
Festivals Circle
Plans the community festival life of the school; supports all-community festivals such as the Harvest Festival, Winter Faire, and May Faire
If you would like to volunteer in any of these areas, or have specific questions about these or any other aspects of our governance model, please contact Governance Leader, Joel DeJong at jdejong@brightwaterwaldorf.org . Learn more about Sociocracy, our organizational governance model.
